Theory Course for Interprovincial Red Seal Welder Certificate of Qualification Examination:
Trainees should have a minimum of 3 years employment as a welder in the Welding Fabrication Industry, or have worked for 3 years at an associated trade and performed welding. This course pinpoints and focus’s on exam subjects that candidates will need to know before writing the theory exam in order to obtain a Red Seal Certificate of Qualification (Licence) in Welding.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.

S.M.A.W. (Stick) Level
I: This course is designed to introduce trainees to the
proper techniques of welding and flame cutting. Trainees will
demonstrate new and or improved skills on either S.M.A.W. (stick)
or G.M.A.W. (mig) and flame cut mild steel in a safe and efficient
manner.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a
closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Also a practical assignment will be given.

S.M.A.W. (Stick)
Level II: This course is for trainees that have successfully
completed level I, or have documented past welding experience
(ie. welding tickets).Trainees will demonstrate new or improved
skills enabling them to weld in all positions using the S.M.A.W.
(stick) welding process, preparing them for welding certification.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a
closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Trainee will perform a plate bend test in all positions.

Gas
Metal Arc Welding (Mig) Level I: This course is designed
for individuals with no previous experience in MIG welding
variables. This course will provide them with new skills a
better understanding of the Mig process. A brief introduction
to Flux core welding process will be given.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a
closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Also a practical assignment will be given.

Gas
Metal Arc Welding (Mig) Level II: This course is for
trainees that have successfully completed level I, or have
documented past welding experience (ie. welding tickets).

them to weld in all positions using the G.M.A.W. (Mig) welding
process, preparing them for welding certification. Welding
of different alloys will be introduced.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a
closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Trainee will perform a plate bend test in all positions.

who have pervious Mig welding experience and wish to upgrade
their skills and knowledge in welding of Stainless Steels
Alloys.

G.T.A.W. (Tig)
Level I: This course is designed for trainees to teach
new welding skills using the G.T.A.W. (TIG) process. Upon
completion of this course, trainees will demonstrate new welding
skills and a sound knowledge of the TIG process for entry
level position in Industry.

closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Also a practical assignment will be given.

G.T.A.W. (Tig)
Level II: This course is for trainees that have successfully
completed level I, or have documented past welding experience
(ie. welding tickets). To further upgrade Trainees in G.T.A.W.
(TIG) welding process relevant to their requirements upon
completion participants will have a thorough understanding
of the TIG process and demonstrate more advanced skills through
both written and practical assignments.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a
closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Also a practical assignment/test on pipe with purge will be
given.

Pressure Vessel
Welding: To prepare individuals with extensive welding
experience for pressure vessels branch welding test, and updated
skills in high pressure welding techniques, and A.M.S.E. IX
code requirements.
Evaluation Method: Trainees are given a
closed book theory test, which they must receive 70% to pass.
Trainee will also perform a practical T.S.S.A. welding test.
